Bay College honors part-time Computer Networking Systems and Security (CNSS) instructor Josh Blumensaadt as one of its recipients of the Don Johnson/MEEMIC Insurance sponsored Outstanding Educator Award.
To be considered for the award, faculty have been nominated by a colleague, student or community person. The primary purpose of this award is to recognize faculty commitment to education and excellence in service to others.
Josh Blumensaadt is a proud graduate of Bay College and started his career as a student employee in 2007 and transitioned to full-time employee in 2011 as a Technical Support Specialist. From 2012 to 2018, Blumensaadt held the position of Campus User Technology Coordinator. He is currently a part-time Computer Network Systems and Security (CNSS) Instructor at Bay College and a CTE Instructor at Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District.
Blumensaadt earned an Associate’s degree in Arts-Secondary Education (Math) and an Associate’s degree in Applied Science-Computer Systems Technology from Bay College.
Additionally, Blumensaadt was named Bay College’s Outstanding Staff Member in 2017 and won the Escanaba Torch Award (Team Player; Outstanding Achiever; Responsive to Others; Conscientious of Bay College’s Mission; Helpful to All) in 2013. and the Bay West Torch Award in 2011. Blumensaadt received several certifications during his time at Bay College, including: MTA Networking Fundamentals, MTA Windows Serve Administration Fundamentals, MTA Security Fundamentals, and MTA Windows Operating System Fundamentals.
Dean of Business and Technology, Mark Highum, said, “Josh is an excellent teacher and a tremendous addition to our Computer Network Systems and Security (CNSS) program. He teaches at Delta Schoolcraft ISD, as well as directly at Bay College. He is also an invaluable asset on the CNSS advisory board and worked on revising our hardware maintenance course. Bay College is fortunate to have Josh Blumensaadt among our faculty.
Finally, Blumensaadt was nominated by a student, who shared, “Josh combines personal experiences and current events to show how the subject impacts our daily lives. Josh’s classes are designed so you can get out of everything you put in. Josh frequently helps me dive deeper and helps me learn more than what’s in the book.
Any Bay College employee, board member, student, alumnus, or community member may nominate one full-time or regular part-time exempt or non-exempt employee for the Bay College Outstanding Employee Award. These individuals must have completed three years of employment at Bay College. Candidates are judged on their professional knowledge, respect and enthusiasm for their colleagues, students and members of the community, creating a positive influence in the work environment and working collaboratively with their colleagues and staff.
