Mangaluru: St Agnes College Hosts Workshop on “Object-Oriented Principles with Java Programming”

Mangaluru, June 11: A two-day workshop on “Object-Oriented Principles with Java Programming” was launched on June 10 at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. Dignitaries present at the inauguration included Sr Dr M Venissa AC, Principal of St Agnes College, Resource Person and Senior Guest Dr Demian Antony D’Mello, Professor and Dean – Academics, Department of Computing and Engineering, Canara Engineering College, Mangaluru, and PG Coordinator Sr Dr Vinora AC. The workshop was organized by the Graduate Department of Big Data Analytics for first and second year students of the department.

Department head Jonita Rasquinha welcomed the gathering and highlighted the purpose of the workshop. She emphasized the need to enrich programming skills and that the workshop would allow students to practice object-oriented concepts through hands-on experience. The principal in her address emphasized the need for students to be equipped with programming expertise in different programming languages.

During the inauguration, Dr. Demian D’Mello emphasized the need and importance of academic, technical and employability skills. He pointed out that all three balance steady growth, to handle various positions in the industry. He also mentioned the need to follow best practices in programming and that the workshop would help students acquire the skills expected in the industry. Dr. D’Mello gave an overview of the workshop and mentioned that it included in-depth programming exercises combined with an introduction to supported online tools in the Java language.
