Visakhapatnam: Srihari Ruttula, an MCA student from Visakhapatnam, will represent India at the Global Skills International competition to be held in South Korea in October. He won a Gold Medal in IndiaSkills National Competition Cyber ​​Security Challenge to take to the global stage.
The National Skill Development Corporation held the largest biennial competition in this country in 54 skills such as computer programming, robotic system integration, cyber security, visual merchandising, graphic design technology, construction work, etc. .
The winners of this behind-closed-doors national event will undergo rigorous training to represent India at WorldSkills. The competition, known as the ‘Skills Olympiad’, is the world’s largest event for excellence in vocational education and skills.
Speaking to ToI, Srihari said the journey to WorldSkills started in January 2020 when he participated in the district level competition in Vizianagaram. “Coming out successfully from Zonal, State and South Indian competitions in subsequent phases, I progressed to National Championships held in New Delhi in January 2022. Six people emerged winners of the challenge cybersecurity two for gold (including me), two for silver and two for bronze Even then they filtered winners in which I again emerged as the best of all to qualify for the international event,” said Srihari, who is currently studying the second year MCA at Gitam Deemed to be University.
Srihari has several other credentials, such as winning runner-up in the Deloitte Cyberkshetra, a national cybersecurity challenge. He was a TCS Hackquest 22 finalist.
The government of Andhra Pradesh recently congratulated Srihari with a check for ₹1 lakh, a souvenir and a certificate of appreciation on World Youth Skills Day. Career center GITAM sponsored a high-end computer workstation worth ₹2.6 lakh to Srihari to help hone his skills.
When asked what he wanted to be in the future, Srihari said he wanted to research malware analysis. He hails from Badangi of Vizianagaram district. He is currently undergoing virtual training for the WorldSkills competition under the guidance of a leading expert from Infosys.
